Elsight appoints new Country Director for Germany and the EU

The Israeli company Elsight has appointed Tobias Willuhn as Country Director for Germany and the EU. In his new role, the aerospace engineer will establish the young company’s innovative products in these markets and set up a representative office in Germany.

Willuhn, 48, studied at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich before serving as a technical officer with the 51st Air Force Reconnaissance Wing “Immelmann” and as a systems officer at the Combat Aircraft Systems Support Center in Manching. After his active service, Tobias Willuhn held various senior positions at Rohde & Schwarz and Elbit Systems Deutschland, including roles in the naval radio communications and test and measurement technology segments. Most recently, as a member of the executive board at Elbit Systems Deutschland, he was responsible for the ISTAR & EW business unit and, in this role, helped align the company’s capabilities in the field of electro-optical and magnetic sensors and effectors with the requirements of the German and European markets.

As Country Director, he now faces the challenge of introducing and establishing Elsight’s state-of-the-art AI-powered UAV control solutions in the company’s new markets of Germany, the EU as well as the European NATO states. Elsight is generally open to partnerships with local companies, which is likely to play a significant role, particularly in terms of technology transfer, value creation and independence. Elsight addresses mission-critical connectivity needs across defense, public safety, and critical infrastructure sectors. In defense, the rapid expansion of unmanned aerial and ground systems has created an urgent demand for resilient, interference-resistant command and control systems. Elsight’s technology enables secure, beyond-line-of-sight connectivity in contested and bandwidth-constrained environments.

Beyond defense, Elsight supports public safety agencies and commercial operators across utilities, disaster response, logistics, surveillance and inspection. Its solutions ensure reliable, real-time connectivity for unmanned systems in complex and remote environments, enhancing situational awareness, operational efficiency, and response effectiveness where network failure is not an option.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to represent a young company here in Germany as well that is already successful in many industries, and to actively promote its growth on the one hand, while also consciously advancing the development of drone capabilities in Europe on the other. To enable the necessary scalability of unmanned systems here, the availability of reliable connectivity systems is of critical importance. Elsight’s solutions for the safe, robust connectivity of UAVs beyond line of sight are already in use internationally and have great potential in European Union countries to significantly contribute to the effectiveness of the armed forces,” Tobias Willuhn explained his motivation.

“It is a stroke of good fortune for Elsight that Tobias Willuhn is available to help us tap into EU markets with our innovations. His experience in the fields of military communications and electronic warfare, combined with his clear understanding of the needs of modern armed forces based on his own background, made him the ideal choice to serve as a link between industry and the military“, added Yoav Amitai, CEO of Elsight Ltd.
